CRBN Genesis (TRUFOAM):

Why I Was Completely Wrong About It

If you've followed my paddle reviews, you know I'm not easily impressed—and I definitely wasn’t expecting to like this one.

When CRBN launched the Genesis Trufoam paddle, I was skeptical. It felt like another marketing-heavy release—lightweight, “new foam tech,” promises of power and control. Sounded too good to be true.

But after actually putting it to the test on the court?

I’ve got to admit—I was wrong.

First Impressions

Right out of the box, the Genesis has a premium feel. Clean edges, solid grip, and a frame that feels like it’s built for business. It's light (in a good way), and the surface texture gave me some confidence before even stepping on court.

Still, my expectations were low. I figured it’d feel hollow or dead on contact.

On-Court Performance

🔥 Power Surprised Me

The first thing I noticed? Pop. The Genesis drives the ball. Whether it was quick counters at the kitchen or baseline attacks, the paddle snapped the ball off the face way better than I expected. Not explosive like some power paddles, but a real, satisfying punch.

🎯 Control Was There Too

Here’s where it really threw me off. Usually paddles that lean into power lose touch—but the Genesis handled soft shots really well. Dinks, resets, and drop shots all stayed low and predictable. The control wasn’t sacrificed at all.

🤫 Feel & Sound

One of the things I liked most: it’s quiet, but not dull. You get a nice “thunk” when you hit the sweet spot—enough feedback to feel confident, without the clank some other paddles give you.

Comfort, Durability, and Extended Use

After a couple of longer sessions, my shoulder still felt good—which hasn’t been the case with some of the heavier paddles I’ve tested. The grip stayed comfortable, and I haven’t noticed any loss in performance.

Build-wise, this thing holds up. No dead spots, no peeling edges, no weird vibration issues.

Final Thoughts

I came into this test doubting the CRBN Genesis, but after a few hours of serious play… I’ve changed my mind. This paddle walks the line between power and control better than I expected.

It’s ideal for intermediate to advanced players who want a little extra drive without giving up soft touch play.
